Penny Loafers
Footwear that we call moccasins are actually penny loafers. These shoes have a classic sole and heel. The best of them are sewn using the Goodyear welted or blake method. At the height of the instep they have a characteristic stripe behind which a one-penny coin was inserted in the 1930s - hence their name. These shoes were created in 1936 and exist in virtually unchanged form to this day, so they can easily be considered classic.
Initially, they were worn only with informal outfits and became extremely popular among university students in the USA. Under the influence of such fashion and style icons as Cary Grant or Prince Edward VIII, loafers entered the salons and began to be combined with suits. Perfected by Italians and made of the best quality leather, penny loafers are now considered the pinnacle of smart casual style. These are excellent summer footwear, much more comfortable than oxfords, and can successfully replace them; except for formal styles, they match almost any outfit.
Nowadays, penny loafers are combined with almost all outfits. At SHOEHOUSE Classic Buty you can find pennies that match both informal outfits, for example suede Partigiani sewn using the goodyeaer welted method. They go perfectly with casual combinations such as jeans and shirts, as well as smart casual combinations such as chino trousers, a shirt and a jacket.
In turn, penny loafers made of grain or polished leather are a perfect complement to semi-formal combinations, less formal suits or coordinated compositions. We can wear pennies on bare feet or with socks. We recommend wearing socks /pl/c/Stopki/88, i.e. invisible socks. However, we recommend plain socks for business meetings because their absence may be perceived negatively. Contrary to appearances, penny loafers are not only for summer. Penny shoes with a York or Dainite sole can be worn from May to October. This elegant and extremely universal shoe should be in the wardrobe of every man who values comfort and elegant ease.
